Story
This spring, I am supporting Lupus UK by taking part in their Spring into Action: 35 Challenge!
I don't normally do this sort of fundraising, but since becoming involved with Lupus UK I can see how valuable the work is that we do, across the organisation. Beyond doing my job, I want to help Lupus UK develop and deliver the services, information, support and contribution needed to make the lives of those people affected by lupus better than they are now.
Lupus is a condition where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy parts of the body, affecting the joints, skin, kidneys and organs. I was diagnosed with Lupus around 30 years ago. There was no information, no support and I was pretty much left to find out about it on my own. That is different now, but Lupus UK is a small organisation taking on a big role and I want to do everything I can to support the lupus community.
The challenge I am setting myself is to walk 35 miles throughout April and May. When I think of it like that - 2 months to walk 35 mile it seems so easy .. but even though I am generally well and my Lupus and other auto immune condition is well treated and controlled .. I still spent the best part of Monday on the sofa because fatigue made doing anything else just too much.
Every Mile and £1 donated helps us raise vital funds to support those living with this often invisible and life-changing condition.
