Story
I am reaching out to share a personal story that highlights the importance of supporting the British Liver Trust.
For many years, I have been inspired by my remarkable friend Lisa who has faced incredible challenges with unwavering strength and positivity. Lisa, who is like family to me (my sister in laws sister but we call each other sister in law too 😂), was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis whilst studying abroad 16 years ago. Over the years her health deteriorated and she underwent a liver transplant in February 2025 just 5 weeks before her wedding. Unfortunately her wedding got cancelled and then tragically, after a brief recovery period of 7 weeks, she learned that the transplant was not successful and was placed back on the waiting list for another liver. She is currently receiving plasma exchange treatment to help and is still waiting that second call. We really hope this call comes soon 🙏.
Despite all of these hardships, Lisa continues to shine brightly in the lives of all who love her. She is dedicated to raising awareness about liver disease and sharing her journey to help others facing similar struggles. She really is nothing short of amazing, and it motivates me to try help people like Lisa.
I am committed to fundraising for the British Liver Trust as they provide vital support for individuals affected by liver conditions. To do this, I will be participating in the Adidas Manchester Marathon on Sunday 19th April 2026. My goal is to raise £1000 to support this essential charity that helps thousands of people every year (adults and children), and campaign to raise awareness of all liver diseases.
An amazing update ….. Lisa got a call and had her second transplant on 31st January. Has had a positive journey so far and got discharged home 13th February. So happy for her and hope her journey post second transplant goes smoothly and well ❤️❤️
Lisa is the nicest, most fun, bubbliest and kindest person you will ever meet. She is my favourite running buddy and we used to run together every week until recent years. We actually became so close training for a marathon 7 years ago. So this marathon each step I run…I will run it for her!
