Story
I think, by now, anybody reading this will already know Freddie’s story so I won’t repeat it from scratch.
However, I will say that earlier this year Freddie was plagued by illness. He caught one thing after another. It was relentless. Even once everything had past he was left fatigued and seemed to have lost some skills. When something like this happens we never know whether things will improve, and if they do, how long it will take. The ‘waiting to see’ is very hard for James and I.
After some months Freddie is back to where he was prior to getting poorly. Which means he has also resumed his love for walking using his walking frame. A particular highlight this year has been watching him choose to take part in two races on sports day. Both of which meant walking on the grass!! This is something he has always struggled to do because of how hard it is for him.
So… when we saw The Lily Foundation had spaces for The Butterfly Run at The Olympic Park and it fell on Freddie’s 8th Birthday we knew it would be a lovely way to celebrate our Super Fred.
Freddie and Ada (because she wants to do what her brother does and sports day has left a huge impression on her) will be taking part in the 1km race to raise money for The Lily Foundation. A charity very close to our hearts that has continued to support us for many years now.
