Story
Last year I took part in the London landmarks half marathon essentially for Sally Saunders and to raise awareness for the bone cancer trust.
It was also a very personal journey for me, I started training for it just before I found out I was pregnant then very sadly miscarried, having the half to focus on and train for helped me a great deal.
I knew when I finished I wanted to do it again and I was rather injured and in a lot of pain during the run, too much training over a short amount of time and not enough rest was the cause, I knew I could do better next time. I initially thought I would do it for Tommy’s this year, but after seeing the support and charity places they have I knew that although it was close to my heart, The bone cancer trust needed my support more. So here I am again this year hoping to be able to achieve and be 100% fit too.
The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%!
Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
