Story
On 13th September I was signed up to swim the Dart 10km for Bravo Medics. After 2 months of swimming training I have concluded marathon swimming is not for me. I have decided to raise money for Bravo by doing something that brings me joy - RUNNING. The work that Bravo Medics do is a stark reminder that life is too short to do things that you don't enjoy.
So instead, on 13th September Lucy and I are going to have a great day out, running and walking the Butcombe 50km route in the Mendips. We plan to run two thirds of the route, and our parents are kindly going to crew for us. Our Mum's are going to join us for the last third (approx 11 miles) and we will walk this together.
Bravo medics is an incredible charity. I encountered them first hand, when I was a bystander at a road traffic accident almost 5 years ago. It wasn't until a few days later that I discovered the clinician on the scene was a critical care doctor, who was there as a volunteer.
Bravo medics get critical care doctors to life threatening emergencies in the community overnight, when the air ambulance is not operational. We are very fortunate to have this special charity operating in the Bristol, South Glos and Somerset area. They save the lives of people, who otherwise may not have survived.
