Louise's fundraiser for Legend on the Bench - Someone is always listening

Louise Wilde is raising money for Legend on the Bench - Someone is always listening
In memory of Barnaby Wills
The goal is to install benches in as many public parks throughout the UK, discreetly inscribed with a QR code, that opens up an array of supporting organisations for Mental Health issues and Suicide Awareness/Support. Someone is always listening...

Story

Sadly our 19 year old nephew Barnaby took his own life in April 2026. This was a complete shock for our family and we may never know what precipitated this tragic event. Barns was a popular young man, he was a high achiever who also went out of his way to help others through their A levels. He had a loving family. He was a keen scout, played hockey at school, county and university level, was captain of the school team and still found time to go to have fun traveling and clubbing with his mates. In other words had great potential and seemed to have everything to live for.

We know that sadly our family and Barns’ friends are not alone in our grief and that many, many people have experienced this grief in their own lives. We so wish Barns still had his life ahead of him, and want to remind people to reach out to friends, family or other services if they're ever in need of something to light up the darkness.

The Legend On The Bench reminds people in distress that they are not alone. It’s low lit via solar power - with the light pointing down to avoid disturbing wildlife. It has links to phone numbers and organisations who can listen and help in times of need. It’s a testament to the design that not one of the 140 benches about the country have been vandalised. However there are no benches in Cornwall and we would like to try and change that! With your help we would like to buy at least one bench - but the more we collect the more benches we can position around Cornwall. Please donate - every penny you give will go towards a bench, gift aid helps the charity to run and continue its great work.

Someone is always listening.

Thank you - Louise Adam and family x
