Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 14th October I will be completing the National Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hours in aid of Compass Counselling along with a close friend of mine
This vital mental health charity supports people in the poorest areas of Merseyside, the people who work for Compass make a real difference to the lives of largely underprivileged people who are experiencing mental distress. I know what excellent work they do from visiting and fundraising for the charity this year.
Compass wish to expand to provide their excellent services in West Cheshire, the funds raised will support in this expansion and in supporting more people who need the help most.
We are both Registered Mental Health Nurses and have worked in the NHS for over 5 years in acute and crisis services. I currently work in the Countess of Chester Hospital A&E providing urgent support for those who present in crisis.
There are limited third sector services available in Chester, so our team often struggles to make referrals for those who need ongoing psychological support. We also struggle to connect people with the right support before they reach crisis point. Compass can provide this vital support when people need it most.
We have been training for the challenge for over 2 years by completing several hikes up and down the UK. The challenge involves hiking up the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales - Ben Nevis (1,345m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1,085m) all in the space of 24 hours.
Please donate if you can, it will make all the difference to the lives of those living in mental distress.
