Story
The Leicestershire and Rutland County Football Association (LRCFA) is marking Heart Month by stepping up for heart health, with staff taking on a Walk for Hearts challenge throughout February in support of the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
Across the month, LRCFA staff will commit to walking 28, 50, or 100 miles, using the challenge as a collective way to raise awareness of heart and circulatory diseases while supporting the BHF’s vital, life-saving research.
Heart and circulatory diseases cause around a quarter of all deaths in the UK. Every three minutes, someone loses their life to one of these conditions, and in England alone, someone is admitted to hospital with a heart attack every six minutes. The British Heart Foundation leads the fight back by funding over 1,000 research projects and providing trusted information, training, and support that saves lives every day.
This challenge reflects LRCFA’s purpose of inspiring positive change through football across Leicestershire and Rutland, improving health, bringing people together, and encouraging active lifestyles both on and off the pitch. By getting moving this February, our staff are showing that small, consistent actions can make a big difference.
As a football organisation rooted in community, we are proud to put wellbeing at the heart of what we do and to support a cause that protects hearts today and for generations to come.
