L Social Rowing Challenge · 8 October 2023

The reality is that only 10% of children in low-income countries are able to read by the age of ten. We desperately need to support teachers’ development, which will improve children’s learning. We support teachers to provide children in lower-income countries with a better education.

Story

The L Social Removes are raising funds for the Commonwealth Education Trust. This charity strives to combat education-poverty by enabling all children to receive quality education from a transformative and supported teacher.

The need is profound. Indeed, according to the World Bank, learning poverty affects over 250 million children around the world, stifling their life chances. It is estimated that up to 80% of children in low-income countries remain unable to read and understand a simple text by the age of ten.

In order to raise funds for this worthy cause, the L Social Removes will be rowing the length of the Thames (346km) in 8 hours on ERGs on Sunday 8th October. This will mean that each boy will have to row over 20km in 8 hours.

Our initial fundraising target is £1500. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
