A member of REV has nominated this charity as a member of her family died suddenly on 25 July 2015 after suffering a cardiac arrest at the age of 18. Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, CRY has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden death. CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to affected families.

“There is a lack of public awareness that an apparently healthy young person can die suddenly of natural causes. For my nephew, it was an otherwise slow news day during the summer holidays and there was speculation about the cause of death which made headlines, adding to the family’s distress (for which an apology was received later). She would have been 27 in May this year and we think about him all the time.”
