A member of CMA has nominated this charity as her neighbour trains dogs for this important cause. “Deafness does not just affect a person’s hearing. It is an invisible disability that totally isolates people from others. It can cause a huge blow to a person’s confidence and take away their independence. A big part of a hearing dog’s job is to alert their deaf partner to sounds they would otherwise miss such as alarm clocks, fire alarms. The hearing dogs don’t just alert their deaf partners to important sounds. Just as importantly, they provide emotional support. It costs £25,000 to take a puppy from birth through to being partnered with a deaf person. ”
