WMUK is the only UK charity that specifically supports people with a rare blood cancer called Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia (thankfully, we can just say WM for short!). This was a nomination from a person in our CIT team who said: “I know from my own experience that it can be disorienting to be diagnosed with a rare condition where the treatment (or lack of it) and progress often conflicts with the stereotypes that come to mind when we think about cancer. In this context, WMUK is really vital because it provides reliable support and detailed information to patients and their families. The other critical role played by the charity is encouraging the collection of data from patients which helps with research and treatments. As WMUK is dedicated to a relatively rare condition, it’s a pretty small charity and doesn’t have the fundraising heft of some of the better-known ones, so LTG’s fundraising will definitely make a noticeable difference.” We are delighted to have this opportunity to support this important charity
