In April I will be running the London Marathon for the David Shepherd Wildlife foundation, here’s why…

Since 1970 Wildlife populations have dropped by almost 70% every single year.

Human activity is the single biggest reason for this. 

Our culture of overconsumption has eaten away at the planet’s natural immune system meaning that it simply cannot sustain itself at this rate any longer.

Our insistence to destroy forests and replace them with farms, to over hunt species to extinction, and to naively pollute our bodies of water and assume that it will be consequence free now means that 10,000 species of animal become extinct every year. 

So how do we stop this?

1. Fight wildlife crime - as species become more extinct, they become more valuable so their extinction is self-fulfilling 

2. Protect species - by investing into ranger resources and into conservation projects the populations of endangered species can be safeguarded and allowed to regenerate

3. Engage global communities - educating and investing in the next generation to create the environmental leaders of tomorrow 

This is the exactly the work that the David Shepherd foundation completes day to day.
