I am running /cycling marathon 5 (Staffordshire Leg) with Olly (see his incredible challenge and fundraising effort for Tommys below).

My motivation for this challenge comes from meeting Olly, and hearing about his effort to raise awareness and talk about miscarriage/Baby loss.

We lost twins in 1997 and it was at that time rarely spoken about, particularly by men. This has clearly changed hugely but there is still work to do. Inspired by Olly's efforts, we have asked Omar Ahmed to join the Staffordshire leg and as many local runners as we can to come along to support Olly on part or all of the route.

"Olly's story - As my wife and I embarked on our pregnancy journey in 2022, we were blissfully unaware of the very real possibility of miscarriage. Until, in late August, the unthinkable happened. Since then, we have seen and heard of those who have had similar, devastating experiences.

This is an issue which is so common, and yet so rarely spoken about... until it's too late.

So, I plan to talk about it. I will be running 39 marathons over 39 consecutive weeks, starting 28th December 2025, finishing 19th September 2026. I will run in each of the 39 historic counties of England, with 39 different people, all with a story to share. Schedule coming soon!

Alongside the running, we will be sharing the stories of the people who join us, raising awareness and lifting the taboo around all things miscarriage, baby loss and infertility.

Not only do I hope to raise funds to help Tommy's with their incredible work to both prevent and support those experiencing baby loss. I also hope to raise awareness of the struggles that couples can face, how common these struggles are and the unbelievable support which is available in the hardest of times.
