Story

This page is to raise money in memory of my amazing father Stephen Shears who passed away from a rare form of cancer on 16th March 2025.

So…

For anyone that knows me will know that I DO NOT RUN.

I run to the fridge / sofa / away from my problems 😭🤣 but not for fun.

So I have decided to challenge myself with a 10 mile run later on in the year , I’m looking at the Bassingbourn 10 miler but the date hasn’t been confirmed yet.

I have already booked in my first 5k in north Stowe at the end of April and will update everyone on my progress as I go.

I would really love to raise a decent amount of money for this amazing charity , you wouldn’t believe how much you appreciate hospice care and hospice workers until you or a family member is privileged to use their services.

They rely on fundraising and charitable donations and they really go above and beyond for both patient and family members whilst in their care.

Before my dad went into St Luke’s he kept asking to “go home” , as soon as he was in there he felt at home and never asked again.

Hospices are homes from home and your support would be so truly appreciated from the bottom of my heart so that I can say a big thank you to the team there.

Whatever you can donate , 50p / £1 / £5 , no amount is too small and I will be so grateful.

Wish me luck! 🍀

Do you want to make a real difference to the lives of people and families living with life-limiting illnesses in your local area? Whether it's a fun run, 5k, 10k, Britain's Ocean City Half Marathon or a full marathon, whatever the distance, wherever in the world we would love your support.

Simply let us know which event you are taking part in and we will help guide you into making the most of your fundraising efforts, including providing you with a high quality St Luke's running vest for race day. If you are running in memory of a loved one, a friend or colleague, we will tribute the precious funds raised in their memory.

At home, in hospital or at the specialist unit based in Turnchapel, the money you raise on your run will help St Luke's to continue to provide specialist care for our patients and support for their families in your local community.

Thank You, for your kind support.
