Story
From Lucy and Will:
On 12 October, we are both putting on our running shoes and doing the Royal Parks Half Marathon, raising money for Guy's Cancer Charity. As some of you know, our Dad Peter was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Cancer of the neck earlier this year. He had a pretty invasive surgery and then 6 weeks of radiotherapy every day at Guy's. He's doing much better now, thanks in large part to the care and support he got from the team at Guys.
Somehow, this has all ended up with us having been roped into running a half marathon. Dad would have run himself but wanted to give all the other runners a chance...
Cancer is horrible but the support from everyone at Guy's - particularly in the cancer centre - helped make things a little less grim. Any donations would support the team there to give the same help to other families. Our mum Hildegard, our sister Charlotte, Dad and all of the Brooks would appreciate any/all support you can give.
Love
Lucy and Will
Every penny of your donation will help to make a difference:
£10 could help run a virtual support group session, enabling patients and carers to share their experiences of cancer from the comfort of their own home.
£50 could help provide a comforting care package for someone receiving end of life care, helping to alleviate symptoms and soothe fears.
£150 could provide expert welfare and benefits advice for a patient experiencing financial hardship, giving them the freedom to focus on their recovery.
£350 can help invest in the latest surgical robotic technology, so expert surgeons can work with greater accuracy and send patients home to their families sooner.
