Story
I have recently been through the process to become a volunteer telephone befriender to help combat loneliness with our older generation.
Loneliness affects so many people and I feel very privileged to have been approved to chat with folk and make new friendships over the phone!
I think everyone who knows me knows I was born to be a yapper 😂
Age Scotland work to improve the lives of people over the age of 50 in Scotland. They provide a free helpline, support older people’s groups, promote age and dementia-friendly communities, deliver wellbeing programmes, and campaign on behalf of older people.
My granny turned 100 this year and I know how important it is for her to have support and have regular friendly conversations.
Dementia has also been a part of my life for many years. This cruel disease has massively impacted my family so knowing there are local communities who offer support, gives hope during some very dark days.
Mounting the Kelpies is giving me the fear already as I hate heights, but your support will give me the confidence and a much needed boost to be able to say at the top..."I'VE DONE IT FOR AGE SCOTLAND!"
Giving back is what it's all about.
Cheers everyone.
