Story
My Mum has managed Parkinson's disease for the past 29 years, however, more recently the nature of her illness has changed as she has developed dementia as well. Her spirit remains strong as ever, but her mind now moves in and out of reality.
So many people have been involved with My Mum's care over the years, and I am so grateful for all the nursing and care support she receives and the amazing individuals who help her.
I've chosen to take on this challenge, as I wanted to raise money for Dementia UK as they help others struggling with dementia get the support they need.
I have always loved swimming, but in the past year, I have developed a huge fear of getting muscle cramps in my legs whilst swimming. Managing my mind to ignore this fear whilst I swim can be exhausting and often makes me not want to go swimming at all.
However, I know that in the past swimming has helped me relax both my mind and my body, so I've decided to take on this challenge, not only to raise money for dementia, but also to overcome my fear.
