As I’m sure most of you are aware , Rob and I have been fostering with our family for the last 8 years. it has been an honour and a privilege to care for and love the children that have become part of our family over those years.

One of the parts of fostering that is really important to us is the relationship we build with these beautiful children’s parents, particularly their mothers. Often their stories are difficult and complicated, but there is always a beautiful love to be found, and some of the connections we have created have made a profound impact on our lives and how we foster.

One of these amazing mothers was called Laura. We were looking after her baby, while she made the huge commitment to concentrate on herself and during this huge time of difficult change she was supported by an incredible charity called Pause.

There is a lot to tell about Laura‘s story and I will do that over the next few weeks with the permission and contribution of people who cared for and loved her.

Looking after vulnerable children is just one part of the fostering system, the ultimate goal is to reunite children with their families and give them the tools to be good strong family units. Families who need support, families who need connection and deserve the chance and resources to get themselves where they need to be, so they can nourish and value themselves and in turn be better parents.

Pause’s vision is a society where no family experiences the removal of a child more than once. We offer an intensive, trauma-informed model of support to women at risk of having, multiple children removed from their care. The programme enables them to take a pause, focus and prioritise the goals they want to achieve to sustain lasting, positive change.

Rob is running 100K in July to raise awareness and hopefully funds for this incredible and very needed charity. It is a huge undertaking and has taken hundreds of hours of running, physio, overcoming of injuries and plenty of dedication in the year he turns 50!

We are so proud of him and the chance to make such a difference for a charity that is so close to our hearts is really exciting.
