Story
I'm running the 2025 Paris Marathon to fund life-saving research and treatments. If my experience speaks to you, please help me support the British Heart Foundation (225971) by donating below ❤️
Why the BHF? Why now?
Until recently, I'd only experienced heart-related issues through family and friends. Within the space of a few years, my dad suffered a heart attack, my grandma had a life-changing stroke and we lost a close family friend to a stroke.
I never expected something like that to happen to me. As it turns out, it already had. I just didn't know it yet.
In 2023, I fell down the stairs and ended up in A&E with a concussion. I thought I'd got away lightly, but a CT scan revealed something abnormal in my brain. 👀
After months of scans and tests, I found out that I'd suffered a stroke while at university around 10 years ago, which was caused by a hole in my heart (known as a patent foramen ovale, or PFO).
So here I am, 4 months post-surgery (to close the hole ❤️🩹). I've always wanted to run a marathon, so why not now?? 😂
Please give what you can
I'm running and fundraising for the people who weren't so lucky – those who lost their lives or their independence to heart and circulatory diseases. If you can spare a few pennies I'd be grateful! 🙏
