Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We are on a heartfelt journey to support those affected by rare chromosome disorders, and we invite you to join us in making a difference.
As many of you may know, my niece Mia & Jimbo's grandson Shae both have rare chromosome disorders. Shae has 8P inverted duplication and deletion, while Mia has 4Q deletion. Both children experience global developmental delays, including difficulties with speech and learning, as well as physical challenges that require ongoing support and care. We are also running in memory of our dear friend, Zoe.
We are raising funds for UNIQUE, a registered charity dedicated to informing and supporting individuals affected by rare chromosome disorders. Their mission is vital: they aim to alleviate the isolation felt by families navigating these complex conditions. Currently, UNIQUE urgently needs to raise £30,000 to replace their outdated database and create a new patient register. This initiative will enhance their understanding of the lifelong impacts on children and adults with rare chromosome and gene disorders while encouraging essential research.
On May 17th, 2026, myself & Jimbo will be participating in the Chester Half Marathon to help raise £1,000 for this important cause. Your support can make a significant impact in the lives of those who need it most. Together, we can help UNIQUE continue their invaluable work and ensure that no one feels alone in their journey.
Please consider donating today; every contribution brings us one step closer to providing hope and support for families facing these challenges.
