Coco's fundraiser for WWF-New Zealand Moana

Lucy Leworthy Muton-Phillips is raising money for World Wide Fund for Nature New Zealand (WWF-New Zealand)

I plan to swim across Lyall bay (1.5km) to raise money for our oceans. · 13 December 2025

WWF’s mission is to stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and build a future in which people live in harmony with nature. New Zealand has incredible wildlife and wild places - and we want to make sure it stays that way.

Story

I care a lot about the sea. A lot of our magnificent sea creatures are vulnerable and close to extinction due the impact us humans are having on it. We litter the shores, we pollute the waters, we over fish and hunt our large sea mammals. I am particularly worried about our whale and dolphin populations here in Lyall bay. Did you know whales sleep with half their brain off and the other half on? That's cool.

We recently had a talk at school by Project Jonah, we learnt how to rescue a whale and it got me thinking. We can really make a difference for our ocean and the wildlife that we share it with and together we can build a future where people and nature thrive in harmony.

Please help by sponsoring me to swim across our wonderful Lyall bay, its a long way.

Lots of love
