London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
Next April, I (alongside my Sister & a couple of friends) will be running ‘The London Landmarks - Half Marathon’ in aid of ‘Young Lives vs Cancer’ - a charity very close to my heart.
On Tuesday 12th December 2023 my little nephew, Jack went for his routine ultrasound (part of his 3 monthly kidney surveillance) at GOSH, where my Sister & Brother-in-Law got told the unimaginable - that Jack had Bilateral Wilms Tumour (Kidney Cancer), which then led to him being admitted immediately onto the children’s cancer ward to start weekly chemotherapy.
Jack went through 10 rounds of chemotherapy & became very poorly - he ended up having to have his right kidney removed and 30% of his left kidney too. After a very hard few months (especially for Beck, Trav & Lilly), we can now proudly say Jack is CANCER FREE 🙌🏼
Throughout, Young lives vs Cancer supported Beck & Trav the whole way - helping them with paper work, transport, a friendly voice at the end of the phone & all their accommodation when Jack was staying in GOSH (through their ‘homes from home’ scheme).
“For every £60 you raise, you could be ensuring that a family have a bed to sleep in close to where their child is receiving cancer treatment. Our Homes from Home are a slipper walk away from the hospitals and are a life line for families, helping them stay together during their child’s treatment.”
So many families unfortunately have to go through awful times like this, which is why we are asking you to please donate today (big or small - any amount makes a difference) - without people like you, charities like this would not exist and they have really been incredible throughout my nephew’s cancer journey & for thousands of other families too ❤️
