Story

I am running the Great North Run 2026 to raise money for Spinal Research!

My inspiration to run for this charity follows my journey with scoliosis. My twin sister (Kate) and I were originally diagnosed in 2018, then treatment ensued using plastic back braces to fix the curvature (in our awkward teen years). But, we were then told late 2019 that we required surg

ery to fix the curvature so it was scheduled for March 2020. Well, we all know what happened there so following a cancellation we enjoyed our back brace free time until July 2020, our surgeons fought so hard for that surgery and we remain so grateful.

Now living a life with a straightened spine (images above) we make the most of our (mostly) pain free lives. I am currently using this time to keep fit and healthy by lifting weights to achieve anything. Integrating running into Kate and I's lives will be an interesting endeavour (mostly by ruining her pacing).

More information for the cause is below:

There are an estimated 105,000 people in the UK with a Spinal Cord Injury. Living with an SCI often means a lifetime of health and care costs, as well as the threat of secondary healthcare complications. Spinal Research is the UK's leading medical charity focused on the repair and restoration of the spinal cord, and we exist to beat paralysis.

With your help, we can #CureParalysis.
