Peak District Ultra Challenge 2024 · 6 July 2024 to 7 July 2024 ·

Founded by Alex Gibson an ex-GB Decathlete post his diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND). His positive approach has inspired many, please refer to www.challengingmnd.org to see his World Record challenges. We enhance the individual’s life living with MND and/or that of their family carer(s).

Story

MND (Motor Neurone Disease) is a fatal and rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and the spinal cord. Messages from the Motor Neurones gradually stop reaching the muscles which in turn leads the muscles to weaken and waste away. It can leave people locked in a body unable to move, talk, swallow and eventually breath.

It’s a horrific disease, both for families to watch loved ones change and suffer and for people with the disease to lose their abilities and control over their own body. I know first hand the impact this disease can have on all people around it and the anguish and turmoil it brings, so this year I have decided to take myself out of my comfort zone and push myself. Life is full of challenges, some we chose, some we don’t, these are my chosen ones this year so far!

June - Ultra 100k Walking Challenge

July - Ultra 100k Walking Challenge

August - my First 10k Trail

September - Apex ‘Everest’ Challenge

And if along the way, I can raise some money to support families going through this terrible disease then that would be the biggest accomplishment. I have chosen two Motor Neurone Charities and would like to give as evenly and as much I possibly can to help research and support families going through this devastating disease

Thanks for taking the time to visit and read my JustGiving page, all donations will be very gratefully received
