I’ve always loved running. Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to take on the London Marathon a couple of times, chasing personal goals and soaking in the incredible atmosphere. But 2026 will be different — and incredibly special. I’ll be running this marathon in memory of my late uncle Phil, and every step I take will be for Compton Hospice, who gave him — and our family — the most incredible care in his final days.

Like many in our local community, I’d heard of Compton. I’d dropped off donations, popped in to Crumbles for coffee, and admired their work from a distance. But I hadn’t truly seen what they do — not until Uncle Phil spent his final days there.

I was there with him. I saw how the nurses, doctors, and staff at Compton gave everything to make those last days as peaceful, dignified, and comfortable as possible. But it wasn’t just about my uncle — it was about all of us. They looked after every single member of our family with compassion, patience, and love. My aunt, who is currently fighting breast cancer herself, was shown such kindness and support during an unimaginably hard time.

This time, I won’t be running for a time. I’ll be running to say thank you. I want to help ensure Compton can continue providing this extraordinary care to other families when they need it most.
