Story
Those closest to me will know that the last 12 months have been incredibly tough. In September 2024, my Dad received a devastating terminal cancer diagnosis that completely shattered our family.
My Dad, who was a healthy, active man and had just begun enjoying his early retirement with plenty of running and golfing, was suddenly hospitalised. At first, we were told he might have only weeks to live.
Since then, we’ve been living week by week, never quite knowing what to expect. Chemotherapy has helped slow the cancer, but his condition has continued to decline significantly.
That’s why the Leicester Half Marathon means so much to me. Not only have I been rebuilding my fitness after giving birth earlier this year, but I’ve also been training through heavy emotions, tough conversations, and countless journeys up and down the M1, all while caring for a newborn.
One of my Dad’s wishes is for me to run this race in support of Hope Against Cancer, a charity he believed in and supported long before his own diagnosis. Running this race is my way of honouring that wish.
If you’re able to donate, it would mean the world. Every donation goes toward vital cancer research and gives hope to other families facing what we are.
Thank you so much for your support 💙
UPDATE OCTOBER 2025
Dad sadly lost his battle with cancer on 18/9/25 which was just shy of 12 months since his original cancer diagnosis.
However tough the last 12 months have been, nothing prepared me for this moment.
I am still out training each week, ahead of my half marathon and know Dad will be there with me in spirit on the day to get me through 💙
