I am running the London marathon (which this year happens to be on my birthday!) for the Favela Foundation - an amazing charity which supports social and educational projects in favela communities in Brazil.

The Favela Foundation believes in the power of supporting local role models to inspire and empower young people to succeed in whatever they might choose to do in the future. Examples of some incredible projects they support are:

- an art school run by local graffiti artists

- a community hub empowering girls through the arts

- an eco-network that supports young people to better engage with and protect their environment

I've been lucky enough to have visited some of the projects in Rocinha, Rio's largest favela community, and the people that I met - their drive, passion, resilience and creativity - were incredibly inspiring.
