Lucy's fundraiser for Cardiac Risk in the Young

Lucy Robinson is raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young

Swimming the English Channel in a 6 person relay · 1 July 2025

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by the sudden cardiac death. We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Myself and 5 other lovely ladies have decided to continue the uni of Sheffield swimming & waterpolo club tradition and take on the English Channel to raise money for charity. We will be braving the British weather and swimming 21 miles from Dover to Calais. Following the CSA regulations, we will be swimming without wetsuits and will therefore have to acclimatise to the cold British waters. The swim should take place within our 10 day window from the 1st-10th July.

I have chosen to support CRY as I have witnessed firsthand the incredible work that they do, benefitting from a heart screening in my teens. Every week in the UK at least 12 fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions. With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young. By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
