Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Members of The Open Door Centre, a day resource for adults with learning disabilities, are undertaking a sponsored walk at Coate Water on Tuesday 3rd October.

Our son George will be taking part in this walk. George attends Open Door and enjoys the activities.

One lap of the lake at Coate Water is approximately 1.75 miles (2.8km)

As a charity, Open Door runs its services based on fees, grants, donations and fundraising. In addition to providing a safe, welcoming space where members can socialise and get help and advice, they run a programme of activities to develop transferable life and work skills and improve health and well-being. Members enjoy swimming, boxing, dancing and singing in a choir, as well as mindfulness and relaxation, arts, crafts, games and events such as discos, balls, day trips and holidays. Members are encouraged to be independent adults, understanding their rights and choices, in order to become respected, confident, and valued members of society. They have monthly meetings to decide the day-to-day running of the centre and three members are elected by their peers to represent their point of view on the management committee.

Every penny counts to keep this wonderful provision going ...

Many thanks ....Hoping George can do several laps !
