Lucy Silver is raising money for Children's Bereavement Centre

Skydive For The CBC 9th August 2026 · 9 August 2026 ·

Giving our supporters the oppourtunity to jump out of a plane at 14,000 feet before freefalling at 120mph all to raise money for an incredible local charity.

Story

I am excited (and a little nervous!) to share that I will be taking on a skydive to raise money for the Children’s Bereavement Centre, a charity that is very close to my heart and one that we proudly support at Specsavers Newark, where I am the Store Manager.

Over the past year, I have made it a personal goal to do something charitable as often as possible, and this challenge feels like the perfect way to continue that commitment while supporting an incredible cause.

This skydive also marks a huge personal milestone for me. By the time I take the leap, I will have lost five stone in weight. Reaching this goal has taken a lot of hard work, determination, and perseverance, and I wanted to celebrate it by doing something that pushes me completely out of my comfort zone. A colleague/friend went on the same journey last August and Julia really inspired me to do the same

The Children’s Bereavement Centre provides vital support to children and young people who are coping with the loss of someone important in their lives. The work they do makes a real difference to families when they need it most.

If you are able to support me, no matter how big or small the donation, I would be incredibly grateful. Every pound raised will help this wonderful charity continue its important work.

Thank you for your support and encouragement as I prepare to take the leap! The Children’s Bereavement Centre depends on the kindness of supporters like you to help the growing number of children, young people, and families who turn to us after the death or terminal illness of someone they love.

By sponsoring my skydive, you’re not just cheering me on, you’re helping provide care, comfort and support when it’s needed most.

Last year, the Centre supported over 1,550 people, and the need is rising. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.

Thank you so much for your support—it means the world.
