On Saturday 10th August, I'll be heading out to Netheravon Airfield Camp in Salisbury to skydive from up to 13,000ft in aid of Hampshire Hospitals Charity!

Hampshire Hospitals Charity is the official charity supporting Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust across Basingstoke, Winchester, Andover and Alton hospitals. All donations help them to support patients, staff and volunteers through investing in equipment and research, refurbishing wards, funding staff wellbeing initiatives and so much more.

Adult Speech and Language Therapy

Our fabulous team are currently fundraising for FEES (Fibreoptic Evaluation of Swallowing) equipment to enable us to better assess our patients with swallowing difficulties. Among the patients we treat are those with neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, MS, MND, stroke, dementia, as well as those with head and neck cancer and respiratory conditions. We use this instrumental assessment to evaluate our patients most at risk of recurrent pneumonias associated with their swallowing difficulty (Dysphagia). Dysphagia is associated with increased mortality, prolonged hospital stays, malnutrition and reduced quality of life.

We recently secured funding for the equipment at North Hampshire and Basingstoke Hospital and are now bidding for the equipment at Royal Hampshire County Hospital Winchester too.

We are very excited that our first FEES clinic at Basingstoke Hospital is next week and we hope to be able to offer a similar service at Winchester Hospital very soon. Please help us make this possible.
