My colleagues and I are doing a charity abseil event down the White Collar Factory to help raise money for the Adolescent Unit.

The Adolescent Unit at UCLH is an acute ward designed for young people. All the professionals who work to help take care of the young people are specifically trained in adolescent medicine and rehabilitation, and there are not that many in London.

The unit was set up with young people in mind, where parents are not on the ward, a recreation room where activity coordinators organise creative workshops, a learning space for young people to catch up on their homework whilst in hospital, or try something new completely and have fun as well as visits by the therapy dogs who help bring a smile on our young people's faces.

But the unit needs so much more with the ever-increasing needs of young people who present with physical symptoms due to emotional and mental wellbeing reasons or poor social situations and attend A&E for safety reasons and desperate need for help.

Please can you give whatever you can, as every pound counts. Please share with your family, friends and colleagues and help spread the word.

On a sneaky little personal note, UCLH is the hospital where I had my neuro surgery in May 2023. This will be the first adventurous event I’ll be taking part in since then which will be a big step forwards in my ongoing recovery! The charity do amazing things for the patients and staff in the hospital throughout, so anything you can do to support truly goes a long way!
