I have chosen to support Friends of the Family, Winchester.

This lovely charity supports needy families in and around Winchester by providing advice, support and ‘befriending’ of troubled teenagers, of children living through adverse childhood experiences, and of mothers and fathers who may benefit from help to provide a stable and loving home for their children. The charity seeks to help families with children aged 5-17.

My inspiration for this choice is my volunteering role with the Hampshire Youth Justice Service, working with young people (aged 10-17) who have offended or are considered at risk of offending. A majority of young offenders experience adverse childhood experiences, and my hope is that the kind of care offered by FotF can improve the situation for needy families and contribute to the prevention of offending behaviour.
