Lucy's London Marathon Fundraiser for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity

Lucy Trist is raising money for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·

I'm running the iconic London Marathon in aid of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity.

Story

I'm running the London Marathon on 27th April 2025 to raise funds for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity. As many of you know, on 15th April 2024 I was diagnosed with Paget's disease, a rare type of breast cancer. As I sat in a daze watching the 2024 marathon, not knowing what lay ahead of me, I thought how much I'd love to be able to run it in 2025.

I've had the most fantastic care and treatment from the Mermaid Centre at Treliske Hospital, Truro as well as surgery at St Michael's Hospital, Hayle. The teams there are so compassionate and work so hard to ensure everyone has a great patient experience.

As I look ahead to radiotherapy I am also now looking ahead to getting my shoes on and starting marathon training! This will involve restarting the Couch to 5k programme over August/September and then moving onto a beginner's marathon training programme.

I can't wait to join all the other runners in London and raise some valuable funds to enhance the facilities for staff and patients at the hospital as a way of thanking them for picking up my cancer and ensuring I'm here to run the 26.2 miles!

Thank you SO much for any donation you are able to make.

Lucy. Xx
