Motor Neurone Disease moves fast. It takes away time, it takes away independence and it has no cure. Every day we support people affected by MND. We fund ground-breaking research. We campaign for better care. We’re here for everyone who needs us. Because with MND, every day matters.

My mum suffered with Arthritis, so was never the most active person, however she was struggling to walk very far at all by 2020. Due to Covid it was almost impossible to get her the medical help needed, and by early 2021 she was resigned to living in her chair - her health both physically and mentally declining.

Bu the summer of 2021 my mum was not as I knew her, hardly eating and wasting away - she fell often so was also badly bruised and unable to look after herself. Careers came into her home twice a day.

She was taken into hospital on 22.10.2021 - only a few weeks after we had discovered that she had in fact been suffering with motor neurone disease (MND) where she died.

Back in 1991 my Nan (mum's mum) also got diagnosed with MND just a short time before she died. My Nan was an active person, so it seems this disease was familial or inherited MND.

As neither my Nan or Mum was diagnosed early enough with MND they were not given any support, I am therefore keen to raise money and awareness of the Mid Kent Branch of MND who had my Mum known could have been supported by them.

I am making the most of being mobile, as MND prevents this - I have entered Run Disney Dopey Challenge 2026, at Walt Disney World Florida to take on the ultimate challenge - consecutive races, 5k, 10k, Half marathon then the full marathon.

This will be my 1st proper half and Full Marathon, so a very big challenge for me - I have already upped my running again (after a few years break) - and thank fully will be supported my Gary who is a regular marathon runner.

Please support me if you can to help me with the intense training and the physical and mental motivation to complete this challenge.
