Story
I’m running the London Marathon to raise money for Cheltenham Guardians, a charity that supports volunteers who protect vulnerable women and girls on nights out in Cheltenham. Their work provides a visible, reassuring presence for those who may be alone, vulnerable or in need of help.
The Cheltenham Guardians follow the India Protocol, a proactive safeguarding initiative created in memory of India Chipchase.
This approach is simple: Approach, Ascertain, Assist — notice someone who may be vulnerable, check they are safe, and help them get home or access support before a situation could get worse
I have two teenage daughters, and I coach an Under-14s girls’ football team, so this cause feels very close to home. In the not-too-distant future, somebody I love could need the help and guidance the Cheltenham Guardians give.
