Story
I have ulna club hand and have had this disability since birth. I have a fused elbow which cannot bend, a short arm with no muscles, and only 2 fingers. Despite this I have had a successful swimming careers winning many National titles and I currently hold 2 British Records.
My swimming journey was made possible with the support of family and friends but more importantly charities and volunteers that have helped me overcome barriers that most other people don't encounter.
Breaking barriers is a local charity whose main purpose is to ensure that disabled children and young people are included in all things they desire. Barriers for disabled children should not exist and through the charities work in raising awareness and hands on support with those in need, many disabled children in the local area are benefitting massively every day.
Since leaving swimming my focus has been to train for, and compete in the Bolton Half Ironman in June. It seems very fitting that I try to raise money for Breaking Barriers and support them in their goal to help many children, as I once was as a young disabled child.
