Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running my first ever official Half Marathon on Sunday 8th September 2024 when I take part in the Great North Run!
After seeing a few close friends of mine run it the last couple of years I have been equally jealous and inspired to do the same.
This has coincided sadly with the death of a friend, Shaun Redmond, who whilst I met him only a couple of years before his passing, he was a kind gentle man, who showed how to live life to the full right to the end.
Part of this being made possible was thanks to the fantastic charity Genie's wish.
I have to admit I had never heard of Genie's wish until they granted a wish for Shaun. They enabled him to have a domestic holiday, by sourcing and providing a campervan for him and his friends to make memories around the Lake District and Wales. It was incredibly warming to see what they got up, including the record breaking Zipline in North Wales.
Genie's Wish mission statement is as followed:-
The Genie’s Wish is a UK registered charity whose mission is to enhance the lives of people aged 0-40 years, living in England and Wales, who are suffering from a critical or terminal illness or living with a life-limiting medical condition. Our purpose is to bring respite and joy into the lives of our beneficiaries and their families, by providing them with a life-changing wish, experience, or ongoing opportunity. We also provide wish experiences, bespoke events, and activities for young carers, aged 5-18, in recognition of the bravery, kindness, and selflessness they display on a daily basis by caring for a family member.
