Luke's fundraiser for Sussex Search & Rescue

Luke Hull is raising money for Sussex Search & Rescue

A non stop, 108 mile Mountain Rescue Team race along the Penine Way. · 10 January 2026

Sussex Search and Rescue (SusSAR) is the primary volunteer resource used by Sussex Police in the search and rescue of vulnerable missing people. We are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to search anywhere within Sussex, or can assist elsewhere within the UK. All members are volunteers.

Story

I'm proud to have been a team member of Sussex Search and Rescue (SusSAR) for 18 years.

After taking part in several endurance events over the years, starting on the 10th January I'm pushing myself way further than anything I've attempted before, all to raise vital funds for the team.

The Penine Way is the toughest of the National Trails and is usually completed in around 18 days, I will be attempting to cover 40% of the trail self supported in one non stop go!

108 miles and 5500 metres of ascent in less than 60 hours.

SusSAR is the primary search resource for Sussex Police. We are a dedicated team of approximately 50 professionally trained and equipped local volunteers who can employ specialist skills in the search for vulnerable missing persons.

As a 100% volunteer organisation our members give their time free of charge and the substantial team running costs are met by charitable donations and many hours of fundraising by team members.

Since 2002 SusSAR has helped save the lives of numerous missing people.
