Story
Cancer affects all of our lives. It's something that we all think can't happen to us or our loved ones - and then it does.
I come from a family who have taught me three things - never give up, always fight for those who cannot, and always keep running. I suppose that is why I love the challenge of a marathon...
In recent times, my mum has been directly affected by Cancer. After initially beating bowel cancer two years ago, it unfortunately returned in January 2025 and we know that this time it will not go away. She is still fighting every day and will continue to do so, showing me and my family the warrior that she is.
Each year, I look for the next challenge and opportunity to raise funds for cancer charities and do my part whilst I have the opportunity and the fortunate ability to do so.
This year, thanks to the LMA's Charity Partner, The Eve Appeal, I have been provided a great opportunity to run the London Marathon. My target is to finish under 3 hours and 45 minutes - a personal best I am still pursuing.
The Eve Appeal, for those who are not aware, aim to prevent gynae cancers from developing and supporting those with their diagnosis.
To achieve this, The Eve Appeal fund research in four key areas. Uncovering the causes of gynae cancers, predicting a person’s risk of developing them, identifying how people can reduce their risk, and improving detection and diagnosis.
Our aim is to raise £3000 to support The Eve Appeal's services, and beat my personal best marathon time in the process.
With training already underway, myself, the LMA, and The Eve Appeal would greatly appreciate donations to help us achieve the fundraising goal.
