Luke Mansfield is raising money for Bibs Babies In Buscot Support

Reading Half Marathon 2026 · 22 March 2026 ·

A team of inspiring and incredible individuals joining together to help make a difference to Buscot babies and their families.

Story

I'm running the iconic local events - Reading Half Marathon and Green Park Challenge on Sunday 22nd March 2026.

I'm fundraising for Babies in Buscot Support, a charity I have personal experience with. Reading half marathon is a great opportunity to raise money for a charity that does such great work, any money raised will contribute towards equipment that may save a young child's life.

My story:

When my daughter was born in September 2024 she spent her first few days in the ward. The level of care and treatment she received from the staff was second to none, I cannot thank the staff enough. The support that my partner and I received was phenomenal, every member of staff went above and beyond to ensure my daughter was cared for and we were all okay. Thankfully, after a few days she made a full recovery and was discharged from the unit.

About BIBS:

Babies in Buscot Support (BIBS) are a small charity supporting babies and their families on the neonatal unit, Buscot Ward at the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The charity focuses in four main areas of activity, which we call keeping Buscot families "SAFE":

Support - providing families with independent emotional support while their baby is on Buscot, and beyond.

Awareness - we help inform parents about what to expect from a stay on Buscot by providing written information and we raise awareness of issues related to prematurity or sickness at birth.

Facilities - we refurbish facilities and accommodation on the ward to provide a more homely environment.

Equipment - We fund state of the art equipment for the ward including incubators, cardiac monitors, ventilators, phototherapy units and much more.
