Luke's fundraiser for Beat

adidas Manchester Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 ·
I am fundraising for Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity. Beat supports anyone with an eating disorder, their friends and family, as well as professionals working with or worried about an individual in their care.
These serious mental illnesses include anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. 1.25 million people in the UK have a diagnosed eating disorder.
I have seen my own friends struggle with eating and body image from young as 13. Nobody should ever have to go through this, nevermind at such a young age.
One of my favourite videos that encapsulates the state of eating disorders in the U.K. is a statement by Jeff Stelling in which sufferer’s are told they are not thin enough for treatment and so they end up losing more weight and then are told they are too thin for treatment and then are offered palliative care. This has led up to “20% of all eating disorder cases ending up in death”.
This is why I have chosen to raise money for BEAT, I will/have donated £50 myself towards a good cause and hope that we can reach the target of £300! I will be running at Manchester Marathon on April 27th for this cause.
