Thames Hospice Sunflower Walk

Thames Hospice Sunflower Walk · 8 September 2024 ·
Myself, Nat & Cillian will be taking part as a family in the 2.5k Sunflower walk in memory of my Mum & Cillian’s Nanny, Charmaine Saunders. We also want to help raise money for The Thames Hospice which has been a special & important part of my mums and our life.
My Mum was diagnosed with cancer in March, shortly after the passing of my Nan who also had years of battling with cancer too.
Her wish was to spend end of life at The Thames Hospice. Instantly, her mood was lifted after spending previous weeks in and out of hospital. She was finally in a place that gave her the attentive care she needed and deserved. She was surrounded by family & we all had the pleasure of spending quality time with her in a place that was calming, tranquil and comforting.
Sadly, on Saturday 10th August my Mum passed away. She had spent weeks being in a stable condition but unfortunately her health drastically declined. She had been so strong for so long, fighting & being brave which we are so proud of her for.
The staff at the hospice have been phenomenal throughout and we will be eternally grateful for all they did for Mum. The facilities they have to help support patients as well as their families through such a tough period of life really does help.
What the hospice did for my Mum & Cillian’s Nanny is amazing and as a family we want to do something little to help give them the money they deserve and need to help other families that are or will be in a similar situation.
