Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit Elijah's JustGiving page.
Elijah's mum Jodie sadly passed away September 2021, having two years prior been diagnosed with an aggressive bowel cancer. In spite of surgery and chemotherapy, we were devastated to learn in May 2020 that the had cancer spread to her brain. Jodie underwent further surgery, radio surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy across the next 12 months, though her inspirational and brave attitude toward both the illness and the treatment could not prevent the tumour from causing a progressive and debilitating illness. Sadly, this meant that Jodie spent the last week of her life in St Luke’s hospice, who ensured that her final days were pain free and comfortable, and also offered a huge amount of support and comfort to myself, Harry, Elijah, and Jodie’s mum, dad, brothers and wider family.
Anyone who knew Jodie will know just how much cheering our boys on in their sporting pursuits meant to her, whether that be watching Harry swim and win medals at Galas at Ponds Forge or standing on the touch line on a Sunday morning watching Elijah score goals for his football team.
Elijah has always had a goal bonus and this year while playing for Sheffield City U13's (Black's) he has decided to donate £5 per goal he scores to St Luke's to help them continue to support other families across Sheffield.
While there is no obligation for anyone else to contribute, if you feel you would like to support Elijah in this pursuit, please donate anything you can to support the work of this amazing charity that our family will be forever grateful for, and in memory of the special person that Jodie was.
