When a child has a disability, it can make accessing the mainstream community challenging which can lead to isolation not only for the child, but also their siblings and parents too.

Camp Mohawk provides the whole family a safe place to access with adapted play and sensory equipment, staff who can support families when required and a safe place to 'be you' which is not always possible in other settings.

Set in 5 acres of peaceful woodland with indoor and outdoor facilities, there is a space for everybody to enjoy. Whilst providing the essentials for a child who may need a specialist swing, changing facilities or limited capacity to ensure a calm environment, Camp Mohawk also provides engaging activities for all ages and abilities so siblings feel valued and included too.

Throughout the year Camp Mohawk provides a setting for families to visit and encourages socialisation, learning and play.

My sister Jessica has always experienced the world a little differently. She has special needs and cochlear implants, which mean everyday things that many of us take for granted can take extra effort, patience, and courage for her. But what she has never lacked is determination, joy, and a huge heart.

When she goes to Camp Mohawk, she gets something truly special: a place where she is completely accepted just as she is. At Camp Mohawk Woodlands Trust, she can explore nature, try new activities, make friends, and feel confident and safe in a world designed to support her needs. It’s a place where she can laugh freely, grow in independence, and simply be herself.
