On April 23rd 2024, My mother died unexpectedly in her sleep from heart failure. We had no idea, but from her autopsy it was discovered that she died of Hypertrophy cause by Dilated Cardiomyopathy.

My mother had an echo cardiogram 2 months prior, as she had been occasionally having chest pains and also woke up in the night once of twice from that. The scan came back completely fine, so it was a huge shock to us all when we found out she had died from this disease. She was just 57 years old.

I am very active thanks to my job as a cycling photographer/filmmaker but I am currently being assessed to check my heart too.

I will be riding 100km every day through December to challenge myself but also to raise awareness and funds for Cardiomyopathy UK. If we knew more about this disease in the months leading up to my mothers death, it genuinely could have been prevented.
