Update Climbed Hyperia Sunset September 16th 🌅🎢💚 please read my update and story after 🌅💚🎢

💚 Luke’s Light 💚

A few days have passed since I climbed Hyperia, and I think the enormity of what we actually did is only just starting to sink in.

Standing at the top, holding my boy’s photo, watching the most beautiful sunset… I can’t really explain what that moment did to my heart. 🌅

I was so proud that I had made it, but underneath that pride was the overwhelming sadness that Luke should be here.

He should be seeing all of this.

He should be laughing at his mum for actually climbing Hyperia when everyone knows how terrified of heights I am.

He should be here to see how loved he is.

Thorpe Park was such a huge part of Luke’s life. He started working there at just 16, made friendships and memories there, he worked and watched Hyperia from start ro finish and was one of few chosen to sign his name in part of Hyperia which remains there forever . So climbing it for him, with his photograph in my hand as the sun went down, felt like bringing so many pieces of him together in one place.

And then there are all of you.

Watching the donations continue to come in has been incredibly emotional. Every single pound represents someone who has heard Luke’s story and decided they want to help another man.

That means more to me than I could ever explain.

Because this is what Luke’s Light means to me.

I can’t change what happened to my beautiful boy. I would give absolutely anything in this world to have him back. But I can carry his light forward.

If sharing Luke’s story and raising this money means another man finds M.A.T.E., talks when he would normally stay silent, gets support with addiction or his mental health, or simply realises that somebody cares about him — then Luke’s light has reached somebody else. 💚

Maybe it helps someone hold on long enough to see that the darkness doesn’t have to last forever.

Maybe it helps another man see the light again.

And that is what I want Luke’s legacy to be.

Not how his story ended, but the love, laughter and light he left behind — and all the lives that light may now touch.

I miss you beyond words, Luke. There is still a huge part of me that wishes I could have saved you.

So I will keep saying your name.

I will keep telling your story.

I will keep trying to help others in your memory.

And I will keep looking for you in every sunset. 🌅

No matter where we are, we share the same sunset.

My beautiful boy, this will always be for you.

Luke’s Light — helping other men find their way back towards the light. 💚🌅I think this version captures more of what the donations actually mean to you, rather than just thanking people for them.

Climbing Hyperia at Sunset for Luke 🌅💚

September is Suicide Prevention Month, and I am doing something that absolutely terrifies me — climbing Hyperia at Thorpe Park at sunset — in memory of my beautiful boy, Luke, and to raise money for Men in Their Emotions.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am scared of heights, so this is going to be a huge challenge. But there couldn't be a more meaningful place for me to do it.

Thorpe Park was such a big part of Luke's life. He worked there from the age of 16 and made so many memories and friendships there. He was also involved with Hyperia during its construction and went up to sign one of the final parts of the building work — his little "claim to fame", as we like to call it. 💚

So climbing Hyperia, in the place that meant so much to him, feels incredibly special.

And it had to be at sunset.

When Luke was in rehab in Scotland, he wrote words to me that I will carry for the rest of my life:

"But I smiled at the sky today knowing you can see the sun just like me."

And:

"Mum, no matter where we are, we share the same sunset."

Those words mean even more to me now.

As Luke lay on life support at St George's Hospital in London, we shared our final sunset together. It was the most beautiful sunset. At the same time, family and friends from different places sent me photographs of the sunset they could see.

For a moment, although we were all in different places and I was facing the unimaginable, I felt less alone.

We were all underneath the same sky. We were sharing the same sunset.

That message has stayed with me ever since.

I cannot change what happened to Luke, and I miss my boy every single day. But I can keep saying his name. I can keep telling his story. And I can do everything I can to help another man realise that he matters, that asking for help is not weakness, and that he deserves the chance to see another sunset.

I am raising money for Men in Their Emotions, a charity very close to my heart. They support men who may be struggling with their mental health, emotions or addiction, including helping provide access to counselling and creating safe spaces where men can talk openly and privately with other men who understand.

Too many men are still suffering in silence.

Suicide remains the biggest killer of men under 50 in the UK. We cannot allow losing men this way to become something we simply accept as normal.

We need men to know that it is okay to talk.

It is okay to struggle.

It is okay to ask for help with mental health or addiction.

And most importantly, you are never worthless and you are never alone.

There can still be light ahead, even when you cannot see it yet.

There is another sunset waiting to be seen. 🌅

I may not have been able to save Luke, but in his name I will do my very best to raise awareness, raise money and help other people feel less alone.

So, despite being absolutely terrified, I am going to climb Hyperia for my Lukey.

For every man struggling silently.

For every family who loves them.

And for the hope that the sun will shine on them again.

If you can donate, no matter how small the amount, every single penny matters. If you can't donate, sharing this page and helping spread the message means just as much.

Thank you for helping me turn my love for Luke into something that may help somebody else. 💚

No matter where we are, we share the same sunset.

🌅 #TheSunWillShineOnYouAgain

For Luke. Always. 💚
