Story
I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2023. I was fortunate to be offered a clinical trial and I had a Stem Cell Transplant. I continue to receive maintenance chemotherapy at UHCW.
On 14th May I will set off to run Hadrian’s Wall - 84 Miles over 5 days.
I am doing this to raise awareness of Multiple Myeloma, to try and inspire those who are affected by life changing, incurable conditions, and also to raise funds for Ward 34 day unit, where I continue to receive my treatment. They are an amazing team, they support, listen and care for so many patients whose lives revolve around visits to the unit. They do all they can to make the experience as easy as possible for every patient.
Training for any event is a big commitment but training whilst navigating on-going treatment means there is little consistency. Running an average of 18 miles each day will be huge but I hope to prove there is life after a cancer diagnosis and that the teams at UHCW are here to offer support, care and compassion when it’s most needed.
