Our campaign to raise £3,500 will run until 12th October 2026. We will use the money we raise towards a replacement van and dependent on the donations we receive will decide on the type of van we can buy. Your help will be greatly appreciated and we thank you for all your support.

We're raising £3,500 towards a replacement van.

At Newmarket Open Door, our charity shop does much more than sell pre-loved items. It helps generate vital funds that support our work with people across our community, including through our Food Bank and support for the residents of Portland House.

But to keep the charity running, we need reliable transport.

Our current van is coming to the end of its useful life, and we urgently need to raise money towards a replacement van.

Why is the van so important?

A reliable van is essential to the day-to-day work of Newmarket Open Door. It enables us to collect generous donations of furniture, household goods and other items from members of the local community and bring them back to our charity shop.

Without a van, we risk having to turn down donations simply because we cannot collect them.

The van is also vital for delivering furniture and other larger items purchased from our charity shop to local customers, such as settees, beds, large furniture, tables and chairs, and white goods. For many people, particularly those without access to suitable transport, our delivery service makes it possible for them to buy affordable, good quality furniture and household items.

Every donation we collect has the potential to become valuable income for Newmarket Open Door, helping us continue providing practical support to local people.

A replacement van will enable us to to:

- Collect donated furniture and household goods that can be sold through our charity shop.

- Deliver furniture and larger items purchased from our charity shop directly to customers in the local community and neighbouring areas.

- Collect food, groceries and essential household supplies for our Food Bank, helping us support people and families experiencing hardship.

- Support Portland House residents by transporting donations, supplies and other items where they are needed.

- Reduce waste and encourage reuse, giving good quality furniture and household items a second life rather than it going to the landfill and transporting waste to recycling centres.

- Keep our charity shop operating effectively, helping us raise much needed funds for charity.

More than just a van

A replacement van isn't simply a vehicle for Newmarket Open Door.

- It is a way of turning donations into funds.

- It is a way of getting affordable furniture into people's homes.

- It is a way of moving food and essential supplies to those who need them.

- And it is way of continuing our support for the wider Newmarket community.

It is a simple journey - but one that can make a real difference to a lot of people's lives.

When someone donates a piece of furniture, the van helps collect it.

When someone buys that furniture from our charity shop, the van can help us deliver it to their home.

The money raised from that sale helps us continue our charitable work by supporting Portland House, (our 15 bedded homeless supported accommodation for 18 - 24 year old young adults) and the Food Bank for those in need.

Thank you for all your support, it means a lot to everyone at Newmarket Open Door, and people we serve.
